More Design Ideas for My Etsy Shop

Here is where we can really cut loose and have some fun!

This is the page on which I share my design ideas for chairs that have yet to be created  —  but should be.

All of these design ideas are available as made-to-order pieces.

If you see something you like here, or if it triggers and idea in you, please contact me through my Etsy shop, and let's see if we can bring the idea to life!

Right: "Lipstick & Chrome" — a little vintage glamour with a rebellious streak. This cherry-red 1955 Roadster takes center stage (or should I say, off-center stage) on a French-style accent chair, its gleaming chrome set against crisp white upholstery, a black frame, and a solid black seat. And the special surprise: the rear of the car makes its appearance on the outside back.

Feel free to message me with questions, comments, or just to run an idea past me. No obligation to place an order. No pressure to buy. --- Ria

"Scandal"

When I came across this outrageous pink and black Rothko-esque fabric, I knew immediately that I wanted to design a chair around it. But as I went to work, the chair seemed to take over and design itself.

A perfectly proper gilded Louis XVI–style frame will contain the painterly fabric, while a black velvet seat will ground the composition.

And then there's the paint pour I want to try—drizzling glossy black paint over the gilded frame in a defiant act of vandalism.

It would be a Scandal!

"Intesa"

Intesa is and Italian word meaning "accord,""harmony," or "agreement." And she sure is agreeable, don't you think?!

For this chair, I was inspired by actual upholstery fabrics I've been wanting to bring together—the unexpected pairing of a soft pink and gray patterned velvet with a soft, gray faux fur seat. I can just imagine this chair in a romantic, slightly imperfect old-world style setting like this.

The solid black or charcoal frame grounds the piece and keeps it from becoming too ethereal.

Can you guess what I would put on the back? If you guessed pink mattress ticking, you guessed right.

"Flight of Fancy"

This chair is my take on a classic French Louis XV accent chair—with a playful twist.  The star is the upholstery fabric, scattered with cranes in shades of ivory, gray, and pinkish-red. Here I've paired it with an imagined ivory frame and a textured black seat — perhaps bouclé — for a look that's elegant, a little unexpected, and just whimsical enough.  I've digitally dropped it into a slightly shabby French Quarter apartment, complete with a box fan and a cat who clearly owns the place.  The setting may be imagined, but the crane-patterned upholstery fabric is real. Let's make a chair like this for you! --- Ria
